 Welcome to Chappelow Arts and Literacy K-8 Magnet School
 UNC PE Students Team Teaching with Mrs. Ziegler's Physical Education Classes
Dr. Melissa Parker of the Kinesiology and physical Education department at the University of Northern Colorado will be teaming up with Mrs. Ziegler to help prepare UNC students to teach PE. The UNC teacher candidates will be teaching the entire month of November and the 1st week in December.
The UNC teachers will be developing the skill of dribbling with hands from 1st through 5th grade. The teacher candidates have to utilize the new District 6 Elementary Physical Education toolkit which is based off of the National Standards for Physical Education. They will also be using the resource "Children Moving, 7th edition", in which Parker is a co-author.
Please don't hesitate to come visit your child in Physical Education class!

 CHAPPELOW GOES TO THE FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL
**RESCHEDULED**
Our first big event this year is Chappelow Goes to the Fall Harvest Festival on Thursday, November 12th, 7:00 p.m., at the UCCC. We will feature our combined 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, the Honor Choir, and the Off-Keys. It promises to be a fun evening of music!
OUTFITS FOR THE EVENING:
To help establish a feeling of Autumn, all students should wear nice-looking blue jeans and tennis shoes. In addition, please have your child dress in a shirt, preferably long-sleeved, with Autumn-colors, such as orange, dark or light brown, green, light yellow, dark red, or black. Denim vests would also be appropriate, if your child would like to wear one. *If you have questions or concerns regarding the attire for the evening please contact Mr. Regan. I'm very willing to work with you and help you come up with an outfit for the evening.*
All 3rd through 5th grades, and those 6th graders in Honor Choir, will be traveling across town to the UCCC to rehearse the morning of Thursday, November 12th (the same day as the Chappelow Goes performance). Due to district policy, each student attending this rehearsal must have permission to ride the bus. Please complete and return the permission slip pertaining to the morning rehearsal to your child's classroom teacher by Friday, October 23rd. Permission slips will be coming home with your child in the next few days. Your child will not be able to go unless we receive this permission slip. It is of the utmost importance that every child attend this rehearsal so they are ready for the concert that evening.
**Please Note: Bring students to the back (West) doors at the UCCC at 6:15 p.m. PLEASE DO NOT COME EARLY AS THE DOORS WILL BE LOCKED AND STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO WAIT OUTSIDE UNATTENDED. Only performers will be allowed to enter through the back doors. Audience members must enter through the front (East) doors.
TICKETS: An order form for FREE tickets will be coming home with your child. Everyone (including infants) must have a ticket. STUDENTS WHO ARE PERFORMING DO NOT NEED A TICKET. You will receive your tickets sometime in the next few weeks (before the performance - NOT IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT OF YOUR ORDER). Were just trying to get a head start on ticket orders. Tickets are also available upon request in the Chappelow Office until the day of the performance. Please order only the number of tickets you will use. They are available at the UCCC Box Office as well as at the door that evening.
*THIS IS A REQUIRED CONCERT FOR ALL 3RD, 4TH, AND 5TH GRADE STUDENTS. ATTENDANCE WILL BE REFLECTED IN THEIR MUSIC GRADE.*
You will be receiving another note in a few weeks with specifics of the address of the UCCC and what time students should arrive that night. The students are very excited about the music and are singing very well!! We look forward to seeing EVERYONE at CHAPPELOW GOES TO THE FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL!!

 Due to the rising cost for publication, our monthly School Newsletter will be available only on-line.
We will have a limited number of hard copies for those families who do not have computers or Internet access. These will be available for pick-up in the office.
